Considered the second most realized surgery in the world after liposculture, it is a surgery to heighten and/or increase the breast size. Done normally under local anesthesia with sedation. The above mentioned surgery implies an incision around the areola or at the submammary crease that is located in the low part of the breast. A dissection is realized across the breast and the implant is placed in a space formed under the gland or under the muscle as every case.
The implant is a flexible round bag that is filled with a silicone gel, the type of implant and his manipulation during the procedure is an important factor for the surgery success and only the plastic surgeons know to perfection. There exist a wide scale in types and heights of implants and in accordance with the type of implant they can be smooth or texturized, filled with saline solution or silicone.
The surgical objective in breast augmentation is to achieve the following aesthetic goals:
- The point of higher projection of the breast should be at the level of the nipple areola complex or slightly below
- Natural cleavage
- Lateral projection no more than 2 cm out from the lateral wall of the thorax
- Upper pole with a descendent projection
- Less visible scar
- An unnoticeable contour of the implant
